Earnhardt Ties Career Best Finish

There is no shortage of tales that describe an Earnhardt success at Talladega Superspeedway.  This weekend, Jeffrey Earnhardt did his part to add to that family tradition, with a 12th place finish at the famed Alabama track.  That result equals Earnhardt’s career best in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.  He also finished in the 12th spot last August in Bristol.

The FW1/Viva Auto Group Camaro was strong all weekend.  Earnhardt was happy with the handling and the power of the No. 55 machine from the first run.  After a couple small tweaks to find every last bit of speed, Crew Chief Mark Setzer was satisfied and the team ended practice early.

The next morning, the Xfinity Series cars lined up to qualify for the Winn-Dixie 300.  When everyone had their turn, Earnhardt and his FW1/Viva Auto Group Chevy ended up with the 19th fastest time.

Once the green flag dropped, Earnhardt was able to feel how his car handled in a 40 car pack.  The car was strong enough to run with the best and Earnhardt kept the leaders in sight the whole afternoon while avoiding several accidents.  On a last lap charge, Earnhardt went to the top side and was able to slide past a few vehicles before crossing the line in 12th place.

Jeffrey Earnhardt and his Viva Motorsports team are on a roll this season.  In 5 races run this year, Earnhardt has finished in the top-16 3 times, including the last two events.  The NASCAR Xfinity Series has a weekend off before returning to competition May 17th at Iowa Speedway.
