Reutimann Back with BK Racing for Coca-Cola 600

David Reutimann will return to BK Racing to compete in this Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). Reutimann will pilot the No. 73 entry in NASCAR’s longest race of the season. The event will mark Reutimann’s third time driving for the organization.

Reutimann’s record at CMS speaks for itself. In 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the 1.5-mile race track, he has driven to five top-10s, two top-fives, including a win in the 2009 Coca-Cola 600.

This will be the second time that BK Racing has fielded a third car. BK Racing first entered the No. 73 Toyota at Darlington Raceway for the Southern 500 earlier this year. Travis Kvapil drove it to a 32nd-place finish after experiencing fuel pressure issues.

Because the No. 73 team runs a limited schedule, it is outside of the top-35 in the owner standings and will have to qualify into this week’s race based on its time.

Comments from BK Racing Driver David Reutimann heading to the Coca-Cola 600:

“It’s going to be interesting for sure. It’s a cool race. Our main deal is going to be focusing on making the race and qualifying well. It will be a challenge, but being in the Coca-Cola 600 is a big deal and hopefully we’ll make the most of it.

“I’ve won the race in the past. If you look at the way we won it, I don’t know if that adds to my confidence or not (laughing). But this race track is one of my favorites. I really enjoy racing there. If you enjoy coming to a race track, it always makes you feel good when you walk through the gate. I’m looking forward to getting there next week and hopefully having a good weekend.

“I think having a third team will be helpful to BK Racing in the long run. They’re already getting things tooled up and getting everybody going. It’s a big undertaking. Sometimes it’s a little bit of a hassle and it takes a little time to get accustomed to it, but a lot of good people are working on this. The guys at BK Racing have put together some good cars and are bringing some more people on board to do what they need to do. At the end of this deal, I feel like it will be a good move and make our team that much stronger.”
