Greg Biffle was one of 15 competitors collected in the “big one” at Talladega Superspeedway just 47 laps into the 188-lap race. Biffle had worked his way up inside the top 15 after adjustments for a loose handling Ortho Ford before being collected in the accident. After lengthy repairs in the garage, Biffle returned to the track to gain back a few positions and cross the finish line 37th.
Biffle started the race 20th in his No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion and lost some ground during the opening green flag run because of a loose handling condition. Under the first caution, Biffle pitted for shim and chassis adjustments along with four fresh tires. The adjustments helped and ten laps later Biffle had drafted his way up inside the top 15.
A promising day took a turn for the worse on lap 47 when Biffle was collected in the multi-car accident that collected a total of 15 competitors. Biffle maneuvered his Ortho Ford down pit road so the team could assess the damage. The red flag came out for repairs on the track and once it was lifted Biffle headed to the garage for repairs.
The Ortho team pulled together and got the necessary repairs made to their Ford and Biffle returned to the track with around 100 laps remaining. Thanks to the repairs by his team, Biffle was able to make up a few positions in the second half of the race to cross the finish line 37th, 41 laps down to the leaders.
