Mason Mitchell Ends ARCA Season with Top-10 Run at Kansas

The Kansas Speedway has always been one of Mason Mitchell’s best tracks statistically on the ARCA Racing Series schedule. Friday evening proved to be no different as Mitchell earned a tenth place finish in the 2016 season finale. The finish marked his fifth top-ten in five Kansas starts.

“Tenth isn’t what we were hoping for leaving Kansas,” Mitchell stated. “This was my first time in a composite car on a 1.5-mile track. These cars drive a lot different on the bigger tracks than the old bodies.”

“Karl Chevrolet has been a big part of our team’s success the last two seasons and I can’t thank them enough for their support and involvement in our program.”

“Overall 2016 was a decent year for our team. We were able to cross off two of our goals winning a superspeedway race and picking up a win on the dirt. Our team will be back bigger and better in 2017.”

Mitchell’s close call of the evening came at halfway as a wreck at the front of the field broke out. Mitchell was able to maneuver through the accident unscathed. The race was red flagged briefly to clean up the damage.

Over the final 30 laps Mitchell was able to work his way from 14th to finish tenth to earn his 43rd career ARCA top-10 finish.

Mason Mitchell Motorsports earned two wins in 2016 winning at Talladega in May with Gus Dean and winning again at the Illinois State Fairgrounds with Justin Haley. The team earned six top-fives and 14 top-ten finishes between their two cars the No. 78 and No. 98.
