Portland Vintage Festival Added to SVRA Schedule for 2015

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) announced today the addition of the Portland Vintage Festival for 2015. Continuing a long tradition of vintage racing at Portland International Raceway, the Portland Vintage Festival, a 4-day event, will take place July 9-12, 2015. With the prior addition of the Sonoma Historics, SVRA completes its’ vision to become a true national sanctioning body for vintage racing.

“We are excited to have added this event to our 2015 national schedule. The Portland Vintage Festival fills out the western event landscape for SVRA,” said Tony Parella, President and CEO at SVRA. “We are excited for the opportunity to create a first class event at this first class race track. Our members are looking for a fun, challenging, destination track and Portland International Raceway fits that bill.”

Opened in 1960, Portland International Raceway has long been a popular stop for National Championship race series including IMSA, Trans-Am, IndyCar, Indy Light and Championship Atlantic. The 12-turn, 1.97-mile road course is a favorite of vintage racers throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association is the premier vintage racing organization in the United States. Founded in 1981 by Ford Heacock III, the SVRA has 2,000 members. It sanctions 14 events at some of the finest racing venues in the United States, including Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Sebring, Road America, Watkins Glen, Auto Club Speedway, Homestead- Miami Speedway, Pocono Raceway, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Virginia International Raceway. The rapidly growing organization hosted the first U.S. Vintage Racing National Championships in 2013 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
