BJ McLeod Motorsports (BJMM) announced today the return of J.A. Avila Jr. in the Toyota Supra No.99 entry for a partial schedule in the 2020 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS).
J.A. joined the team at the end of the 2018 season, where he made his Series debut at the Fall race at Bristol Motor Speedway. After being away from inside of a race car for almost 2 years, J.A. came back strong giving the team a top 20 finish. Not long after, in that same year, J.A. raced at Kansas Speedway to score his best XFINITY Series finish with a 18th position. With the help of Carlos Lira and B.J. McLeod, J.A. was welcomed with open arms to race partial of the 2019 season. With five (5) races scheduled with the team, J.A. is taking the 2019 race season as a great learning curve and looking forward to put all that knowledge on the race track for 2020.
“Words can’t describe how excited I am to be back racing this season for B.J. Mcleod Motorsports,” says J.A. Avila Jr. By welcoming me to their home and team, I feel that I have become a better racecar driver as well as a better person off the track. I appreciate all that B.J., Jessica and the whole crew do to make my racing career possible by working endlessly on the cars, adding me to their work family, and inspiring me to push my skills to the next level. I believe last season enhanced my skills as a driver because B.J. allowed me to be part of the crew team throughout the whole season. Also, during those times, I was given the opportunity to experience and learn more about all of the tracks that are hosting the NASCAR season. B.J. and the team have played a huge role in my career so far, I look forward to working with each person. Two people that I would like to thank are my parents. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for their love and support. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for this amazing journey. With everyone by my side, I believe this year will be an inspirational year for the B.J. McLeod team and myself.”
“It is pretty cool to announce another regular driver to the B.J. McLeod Motorsports line-up,” says BJ McLeod. J.A. and his family are great people. J.A. offered us great on track results in his first season in the Series (NXS) and showed us he has a place in the Series. I look forward to what he can do in more races this season.”
Additional information such as J.A.’s first race of the season and sponsors will be announced at a later date.
The 2020 NXS season begins on February 15, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. ET live on FS1 and MRN with the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 at Daytona International Speedway.
