Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) driver Marcos Ambrose has his eye on Victory Lane and an extra $1 million in Sonoma. Ambrose and his Stanley team will be "Racing for a Miracle" this weekend at the 1.99-mile road course. Should the driver of the No. 9 machine capture his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win, Stanley will donate $1 million to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through the Ace Hardware Foundation to benefit sick and injured children.

"The Racing for a Miracle" initiative is a multi-faceted program created by long-time RPM partner Stanley, the Ace Hardware Foundation and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to benefit ill children by raising funds for the hospitals that provide their care. In addition to the possible $1 million donation, Stanley has already pledged $100,000 to the program and has donated over $500,000 since the inception of this partnership.

"I'm really looking forward to going to Sonoma and racing for $1 million to help benefit sick and injured children through 'The Racing for a Miracle' program," said Marcos Ambrose. "I'm very fortunate to have such a great sponsor in Stanley, who has partnered with the Ace Hardware Foundation and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to make this special program a reality. It's going to be an extraordinary week for my whole Stanley crew. I can't wait to get it started."

As part of the special week of events, Ambrose, crew chief Todd Parrott and members of the No. 9 Stanley pit crew will visit the UC Davis Children's Hospital in Sacramento, Calif., on Thursday, June 21. While at the hospital, Ambrose and crew will spend time with the patients and their family members. In addition, the No. 9 pit crew will perform pit stop demonstrations, participate in remote control car races, go "tape measure fishing" and other fun, kid-friendly activities.

On Friday, Ambrose and representatives from Stanley will present the $100,000 donation to the Ace Hardware Foundation and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in Victory Lane at Sonoma. Following the check presentation, Ambrose, with the assistance of four current and former UC Davis Children's Hospital patients, will unveil a special paint scheme that will run this weekend on the No. 9 Ford Fusion. These four very special children will also serve as "Honorary Crew Members" of the No. 9 team throughout the weekend.

"Our special pit crew guests are going to be my four good luck charms to help me end up in Victory Lane on Sunday," explained the driver of the No. 9 Stanley Ford. "My team and I are honored to be able to host these children and show them what racing is all about. It's just great to be a part of such a special program.  It means the world to my crew and I to see the smiles that will be on these kids faces throughout the weekend."

The special paint scheme will include the names of the four "Honorary Crew Members," as well as one child from each U.S. state and Washington D.C. Each name featured on the car is a current or former Children's Miracle Network Hospitals patientwho has met their unique medical challenge with courage.

Race fans will be treated to the best air show on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit, as well as one of the greatest managers in Major League Baseball history at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 on Sunday, June 24.

The Patriots Jet Team, the nation’s only civilian aerobatic jet team, will highlight the festivities for a seventhconsecutive year with gloss black Aero L-39 Albatros jets and signature red, white and blue smoke trails.

The Patriots, based in Bryon in East Contra Costa County, will utilize six of these jets in the show on Sunday of NASCAR weekend. You can catch their electrifying 25-minute show in the skies above the raceway at 10:50 a.m. (PST).

Tony La Russa, arguably the greatest manager in history, will serve as Grand Marshal of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 and help give the command of, “Drivers Start Your Engines.”

La Russa will be honored on Friday night of race weekend at the Children's Champions Grand Marshal's Banquet at beautiful Cline Cellars in Sonoma. The gala is a fundraiser for the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

La Russa, who still calls the Bay Area home, posted three World Series victories during his 33-year managerial career, one coming with the Oakland Athletics (1989) and two with the St. Louis Cardinals, most recently in 2011. His other world championship with the Cardinals came in 2006. He retired after the 2011 season. Four times he was named Manager of the Year, three times in the American League and he posted 2,278 victories as a manager, third all-time behind Connie Mack and John McGraw

"I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR weekend,” La Russa said. “Competition in sports has been at the heart of my professional life. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is an outstanding example of competition and I'm excited to be able to observe it up close and personal at the raceway.”

Race fans will also be treated to a performance of the National Anthem by the University of California Marching Band, plus rides on a 70-foot ferris wheel, an expansive vendor midway, Q&A sessions with NASCAR legends Donnie Allison and Marvin Panch and more during race weekend.

In honor of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win Sunday, Charlotte Motor Speedway is offering fans an exciting chance to see the No. 88 battle against NASCAR’s best in the only Saturday night race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. Now through Sunday, fans can purchase two select frontstretch tickets to the Bank of America 500, on Oct. 13, for just $88. Frontstretch tickets include the best view of pit road and the world’s largest HDTV, and fans can come early to take advantage of a full day of pre-race entertainment and activities.

“Dale Junior and the No. 88 Hendrick team have worked so hard and been so close to this win for a long time. This is a satisfying week for the legions of fans that have stuck with him in hopes of a return to Victory Lane,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “This win and his performance all season show he’s hungry for a title.  Earnhardt has positioned himself well to make a major impact in the Chase when the Sprint Cup Series returns to Charlotte.  I know he’d want nothing better than to win the Bank of America 500 at his home track.”

With Sunday’s win, Earnhardt moved into second place overall in the Sprint Cup Points standings, trailing Matt Kethseth by just four points. The top 10 drivers in the points standings through 26 races will automatically make the Chase for the Sprint Cup, a 10-race shootout to determine the season’s champion. Two wildcard spots in the Chase for the Sprint Cup will be determined based on which two drivers from 11th to 20th place in points have the most wins after 26 races.

In 12 career starts in the Bank of America 500, Earnhardt has scored five top 10 finishes, including three top fives. Earlier this year, he won the Sprint Showdown to advance to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, where he finished fifth. Earnhardt also finished sixth in this year’s Coca-Cola 600.

By virtue of his win Sunday, Earnhardt is also locked into a spot in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Could a week of celebrations end with another one Sunday at Sonoma, this one fit for a king?

Last Sunday at Michigan, Jeff Gordon captured his 400th career top-10 finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. With the start of that race delayed by rain and his children at home, Father's Day was "delayed" for Gordon, as well. But attention this week will quickly turn from father to daughter as Ella celebrates her fifth birthday on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Gordon will head west to Sonoma for this weekend's Toyota/Save Mart 350 where he will attempt to become the first driver to reach double digits in victories on serpentine tracks.

"It will be a busy but fun week," said Gordon, a native of nearby Vallejo. "We'll have some fun with Ella's party before heading out to an area I love for so many reasons.

"It's 'home' for me and where I was born, so a lot of family and friends will come out to the track. I love the wine country, too, which is one of the reasons why I have (the Jeff Gordon Collection Wine).

"And that track has been great to us."

Gordon leads most performance statistics at the 1.99-mile track. In 19 starts, his five wins are three more than any other driver while he ranks first in poles (five), top-fives (12), top-10's (15) and laps led (437). In fact, Gordon has eight more top-fives than any driver competing in Sunday's race and he has led 266 more laps than anyone else at the 10-turn track.

"(Sonoma) is very challenging," said Gordon, who is 13 laps shy of 23,000 laps led during his 20-year career. "To me, it's a track where you have to be really precise and patient.

"At Watkins Glen, you have to attack really hard and be aggressive. I feel like Sonoma is the exact opposite of that, and I think that suits me a little bit better."

While the two road courses on different sides of the country are polar opposites, the four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion enjoys the change in direction.

"While we haven't had the same success we once had on road courses, I look forward to those events," said the runner-up in last year's event here. "The road courses bring a different set of challenges, and those challenges are fun.

"Challenges that I always look forward to as a driver."

Accomplished road racer Ron Fellows will return to the seat he’s occupied for the last four years in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as JR Motorsports announced today he will compete in all three road-course races this season in the No. 5 Chevrolet. Those races include Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) on June 23, Watkins Glen International (Watkins Glen, N.Y.) on Aug. 11, and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) on Aug. 18.

Fellows is a former winner for JR Motorsports, prevailing victorious in JRM’s No. 5 Chevrolet on Aug. 2, 2008, at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. In his career he has four Nationwide Series wins, three of which were collected at Watkins Glen.

“I have competed in a lot of races with JR Motorsports, and it’s been great fun,” Fellows said. “They have an amazing group of people, and we've been competitive at almost all of the races. That's what brings me back and keeps me young. My relationship with Dale Jr. began more than 10 years ago, and I'm proud to have driven for both him and his father.

Fellows will race at Road America with sponsorship from AER Manufacturing, as he looks to improve on a runner-up finish in last year’s event. AER, a world leader in engine remanufacturing for the past 60 years, has supported Fellows in the Trans Am Series, NASCAR and the American Le Mans Series since 1990.

Canadian Tire, the largest automotive retailer in Canada with more than 480 stores, will sponsor Fellows at Watkins Glen and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Both companies are returning for their third year of partnership with JR Motorsports.

“This is Ron’s fifth year driving for JR Motorsports, and each year we are excited to welcome him back,” said JR Motorsports general manager, Kelley Earnhardt Miller. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the road courses, and he makes us an instant contender before we ever unload the car. Watching Ron Fellows negotiate a road course is one of the pure joys of racing.”

Fellows will be paired with veteran crew chief Tony Eury Sr. The duo found success in 2010, racing to one top-five and two top-10 finishes in three races.

A native of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Fellows has scored top-10 finishes in six of nine career races with JRM.  He led seven laps en route to a 2008 win in Montreal. To go with his four career victories, Fellows has nine top-fives, 12 top-10s and two poles.

A longtime sports car and road-racing veteran, Fellows is credited with three class championships in the American Le Mans Series, two class wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and 19 overall victories in the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Am Series as a member of the Corvette Racing Team. His NASCAR credentials include six overall wins (two in the Camping World Truck Series), and two runner-up finishes in Sprint Cup competition.

Continuing its commitment to ensure fans have an enjoyable and affordable race experience, Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III today announced the renewed partnership between the “World Center of Racing” and area hotels to help lower the costs for fans who plan to attend the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola Weekend.

Beginning June 18, fans are eligible to save at least 10 percent off the standard rate for hotels located in the Daytona Beach region and surrounding areas with zero minimum night stay requirements.  At least 20 hotels are participating in the program, including the Daytona Beach Hilton Resort located right on the “World’s Most Famous Beach.”

All participating hotels are within 35 miles of the Speedway in Daytona Beach, western Volusia County, Seminole and Flagler counties.  Fans can visitwww.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/hotels to find a list of participating hotels along with contact information for reservations.

“We continue to work very closely with our local and regional hotel partners to provide our fans and guests with the best rates possible,” said Chitwood.  “We want to thank those hotels who continue to participate in this important program and welcome additional hotels to join.  Our fans are the most loyal and passionate in all of sports.  By working together, we will ensure our guests have a memorable and positive experience when they visit our community.”

This offer is made possible through a partnership between Daytona International Speedway and the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Seminole Convention and Visitors Bureau, the West Volusia Tourism Bureau and the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce.

Hotels interested in participating in this program can contact the Speedway for more information.

Travis Pastrana’s accident at last July’s X Games forced the action sports star to miss his much anticipated NASCAR Nationwide debut at Indianapolis and cancel his entire 2011 NASCAR schedule.

As he recovered from his shattered right ankle at his Maryland home, the 11-time X Games gold medalist realized he was falling behind on his NASCAR schedule before he even started.

That’s when iRacing stepped in.

IRacing.com, the world’s leading online motorsports service, supplied Pastrana with one of its state-of-the-art simulation machines. With its laser-scanned tracks and cars, the online motorsports simulation site served as a vital tool in preparing Pastrana for his 2012 NASCAR races. Not only did Pastrana practice on his own, but he also raced with fellow iRacers.

Pastrana has been successful in every form of motorsports he’s tried—from motocross and supercross to Rally. But he’s well aware of the challenges ahead of him as he transitions to the top ranks of stock car racing. He knows iRacing has and will be a vital tool in his success.

PASTRANA QUOTES

ON iRACING:“I am on my iRacing machine as much as I can. It’s amazing how real the tracks and the racing are. The iRacing simulation machine is a tremendous amount of help for me. It lets me take some laps on a track I have never seen before. My big problem is I don’t know how to get the cars set up for each track. I am constantly calling Mike Greci (crew chief) and asking him for advice. Normally, it takes about 30 minutes and a few calls to get the car pretty close to perfect. The sim machine isn’t exactly like being behind the wheel of a race car, but it’s pretty close.”
