Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) announced today a multi-year partnership with world-renowned mixed martial arts (MMA) apparel brand TapouT, an Authentic Brands Group company. TapouT will make its NASCAR debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 5, 2011 as sponsor of the No. 2 Chevrolet Impala in the Nationwide Series event with driver Elliott Sadler.  KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick will also carry the world renowned black and white logo on the hood of the No. 2 TapouT Chevrolet Silverado in the Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway in 2011.

This partnership marks an unprecedented expansion for the TapouT brand, which to date has only sponsored MMA fighters and events. With the rise in popularity of MMA, TapouT is now branching out into new markets and reaching new fans in other sports.

Co-founders of TapouT, Skyskrape and Punkass, believe that NASCAR and MMA fans alike will be excited about the company’s new sponsorship venture.

“I expect NASCAR and MMA fans to be in a bit of shock – in a good way,” said Skyskrape.  “TapouT has never ventured outside of MMA like this, but seeing how the fans love both sports, I think they will be the real winners here. TapouT loves doing things out of the ordinary and we think this is going to be a great partnership.”

Punkass echoed Skyskrape’s sentiments. “There are so many crossover fans that will love to see TapouT breaking ground into other competitive sports.”

Fellow MMA fan and supporter Kevin Harvick is also looking forward to the opportunity to help TapouT expand into this market.

“TapouT has become one of the most well known brands in sports,” said Harvick. “To have the opportunity to become part of the TapouT organization means a lot to not only me, but the KHI racing family. DeLana and I are very excited about this program and look forward to kicking it off in Las Vegas.”

Elliott Sadler will be exposing the TapouT brand to the NASCAR nation for their first event in Las Vegas.

“TapouT is coming on board with us in the perfect NASCAR market to launch our partnership,” said Sadler.  “When you think of Las Vegas you think of all the historic fights that have been held in that town. I'm a huge fan of mixed martial arts and TapouT apparel. They have some really bold designs that will definitely be appealing to NASCAR fans. We're going to work very hard to get these guys into victory lane in Vegas and work really hard to market the TapouT brand to all of the NASCAR fans.”

The multi-year sponsorship includes co-branded Kevin Harvick and TapouT product launching in Spring 2011.

Roush Fenway Racing has announced that Blackwell AngusÒ Beef will return in 2011 and serve as a primary sponsor for Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and the No. 6 Nationwide team. Blackwell AngusÒ will be featured on Stenhouse’s Ford Mustang in the season opener at the famed Daytona International Speedway and the car will carry the brand’s paint scheme as its primary for at least eight races this season.

“We are very excited to have Blackwell Angus beef back on the car,” said Stenhouse, who captured last season’s Nationwide Rookie of the Year award. “We will have them on the car starting in Daytona, which is exciting because their first race last year was Daytona and we went out and had one of our strongest outings of the season.

“We understand the value of strong partners and industry leaders and nobody fits that mold better than Blackwell Angus. We fully expect to compete for the Nationwide championship this season and we are looking forward to having those guys on board.”

“I know the crew really enjoys the steaks they send down for the team when they sponsor the car,” added Stenhouse. “And they will be pretty fired up that we’ll be enjoying that quite a few more times in 2011.”

“We found our partnership with Roush Fenway provided a great marketing platform last season,” said Ivan Brown, Blackwell Angus brand manager. “The partnership delivered a unique opportunity to engage consumers at the grocery store-level and has helped drive sales in the meat case for our retail partners. We are excited about the future with Roush Fenway, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and the No. 6 team.”

Blackwell Angus was the primary sponsor on Stenhouse’s No. 6 Ford four times last season, with the car finishing inside the top 10 on three occasions, including a season-high third-place finish at Daytona in July.

Travis Pastrana is coming to NASCAR in 2011.

After mining gold medals in the X Games, shattering jump records on both motorcycles and automobiles and starring as a cultural icon for the action sports world, the star of MTV's Nitro Circus is ready to turn his attention to America's most popular form of motorsports -- NASCAR.

Michael Waltrip Racing, Gary and Blake Bechtel and Pastrana announced Thursday the creation of Pastrana-Waltrip Racing that will field cars in the Nationwide Series beginning in 2011.

Pastrana-Waltrip Racing will focus on creating programs that expose the action sports world's fans and participants to NASCAR and develop youth marketing initiatives designed to create greater awareness of both sports.

Initial plans are for Pastrana to compete in seven Nationwide races in 2011 and 20 races in 2012.

"I've been following NASCAR closely for years as a fan of the sport with competing in the sport a life-long dream," Pastrana said. "I decided it was time to try and turn that dream into reality and with the help of the Bechtel family, Michael Waltrip Racing and Wasserman Media Group, I'm now one step closer."

Pastrana-Waltrip Racing will field Toyotas out of the Michael Waltrip Racing shop in Cornelius, N.C. Waltrip noted the importance of the youth demographic Pastrana brings to NASCAR.

"Travis has built an enormous and unique following all over the world," Waltrip, a two-time Daytona 500 champion, said. "As a race team owner, we are always looking for ways to deliver to our partners and engage our fans better. This is an opportunity to showcase our company and our sport to a new generation of young fans. We're also looking for that next big star. Travis already is one and action sports is full of talented athletes. Having Travis as a part of our program adds another great dimension to our team and NASCAR."

Pastrana owns 16 X Games gold medals along with multiple supercross, motocross and rally championships in his career. Pastrana also created the Nitro Circus empire, which includes a television show, live tours and a soon-to-be-released feature film.

Danica Patrick has raced at a number of venues throughout her IndyCar and Nationwide Series career. However, March 19 she will come to face to face with a track like no other when she competes in the Scotts EZ Seed 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Patrick, whose foray into NASCAR began last year, will make her first NASCAR short track start on the World’s Fastest Half-Mile. And while she has never experienced anything like BMS before, she says she has heard plenty about it.

“I’ve heard that the atmosphere at Bristol is like no other track in America,” she said.  “Throughout my career, one thing that people tell me over and over is that seeing a race in Bristol is something that every race fan needs to do at least once.

“I can’t wait to compete there – not only will it provide a challenging circuit, but I also have a feeling it will be one of the most electric crowds I’ve ever been able to race in front of. It should be a fantastic show.”

Patrick made 13 Nationwide starts in 2010 with her best finish coming at Homestead where she finished 19th.  When the green flag falls on the Scotts EZ Seed 300, she will become only the fourth woman to compete at the .533-mile oval in a Nationwide Series event.

Patty Moise, Shawna Robinson and Tammy Jo Kirk all came before Patrick, with Moise making the most starts of any female with 14 from 1987-1998. Moise remains the only woman to crack the top 10 in a Nationwide car at BMS with a 10th-place showing in March of 1998. The best finish by a woman in any series at Bristol was Janet Guthrie’s sixth-place showing in the Volunteer 400 Winston Cup event in 1977.

Despite having no experience on a track like BMS, Patrick is excited about tackling the famed half-mile bullring.

“I’m really looking forward to running at Bristol,” she said. “I can’t wait for the challenge. Obviously, it’s a well-known circuit that always has exciting events, so I’ll be looking for a solid run. “

Patrick will compete in the first four races of 2011 for JR Motorsports and could run in as many as 14 events while also running a full IndyCar Series schedule.

“Our stop in Tennessee will be my fourth race of the season and it would be great to finish my early-season Nationwide run on a high note before I move over to begin the IndyCar season in late March,” she said.

Patrick will first take to the track for practice and Ford Fan Friday qualifying March 18. The Scotts EZ Seed 300 follows Saturday afternoon with the Food City 500 March 20.

Tickets for the Food City 500 are available for $93 while tickets for the Scotts EZ Seed 300 start at $45. Ford Fan Friday tickets are only $5 and are just $4 for fans who have tickets to the Food City 500.

A March race weekend package for both the Scotts EZ Seed 300 and the Food City 500 can be purchased for as low as $99.

The 2011 season ticket package also is available and consists of both the Food City 500 and IRWIN Tools Night Race Sprint Cup (Aug. 27) events and the Scotts EZ Seed 300 and Food City 250 (Aug. 26) Nationwide races. Also included are lower-priced options to add Pole Day (March 18) and the O’Reilly 200 Camping World Truck Series/UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Whelen Modified Series races (Aug. 24).

The Wallace Tower package is the lowest priced season ticket at BMS in 2011. The cost for the package is only $185 and includes special food and beverage discounts for season ticketholders.

To order tickets, please visit www.bristoltix.com or call the BMS ticket office toll free at 1-866-415-4158 or 423-BRISTOL (274-7865).

Turner Motorsports is pleased to announce the addition of racing legend, Mark Martin, to its 2011 driver line-up. Martin will pilot the No. 32 Dollar General Impala in NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway, Michigan International Speedway and Kentucky Speedway with crew chief, Trent Owens, calling the shots. He will also drive the No. 32 Silverado in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) races at Michigan International Speedway and Pocono Raceway.

“I’m excited to be running back in the Nationwide and Truck Series again,” said Martin. “Everyone at Dollar General and Turner Motorsports has been great and I’m looking forward to hitting the track with them next year. Working with Turner [Motorsports], I get to extend my relationship with Chevrolet and continue to have Hendrick horsepower under the hood which is really, really good.”

Martin brings unparalleled experience to Turner Motorsports. With a NASCAR career spanning 30 years, he has 40 wins in 794 Sprint Cup Series starts, holds the all-time Nationwide Series records for most wins (48) and most pole positions (30), and seven wins in 23 NCWTS starts. In 2006, motorsports media members acknowledged his accomplishments by naming him the greatest Nationwide Series driver of all-time. Martin continues to compete full-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports machine

“The races we picked for both series are personal favorites of mine. I’d love to win another truck race, and I’ve got to get back to Victory Lane in the Dollar General car so I can keep Kyle [Busch] from breaking my Nationwide Series record,” Martin joked.

Martin has experienced tremendous success at the tracks at which he will compete for Turner Motorsports. In five Nationwide Series starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Martin has three wins, four top-fives, five top-10s and two pole awards to his credit. In only two Nationwide starts at Auto Club Speedway, he has earned one win and a third-place finish. At Michigan International Speedway, he has two wins, eight top-five and nine top-10 finishes and one pole position in his 11 starts. Martin will make his Nationwide Series debut when the team travels to Kentucky Speedway in July.

Team owner, Steve Turner, is very pleased with the experience that Martin brings with him and has high expectations for his organization in 2011.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of Mark Martin to our stable of drivers,” commented Turner. “Mark [Martin] shares my same passion for helping groom young talent and has expressed interest in helping us get our young drivers to the NASCAR Sprint Cup level. I can’t think of a better mentor than Mark Martin. Everyone at Turner Motorsports knows the value and experience he brings to our organization and we are all delighted to have him join our team. We look forward to getting Mark [Martin] and Dollar General into the winners circle in 2011.”

Faith Motorsports announced January 10 that Morgan Shepherd and Brett Rowe will fill the driver's seats in a two-car Faith Motorsports effort in NASCAR's Nationwide Series in 2011.

The duo will kick off the 2011 season in the Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway in early February with the team attempting to field both entries through at least the first five events of the season.

"We will run as long as we can and hope to have both cars locked in after the fifth race," Shepherd said in making the announcement. "We are building cars and gearing up to have a great season."

Shepherd's ride will feature multiple paint schemes throughout the season and will bear his historic number, 89. The car will be owned by Shepherd Racing Ventures through his 2010 partnership with Richard Childress in the #21 car. Morgan Shepherd will be listed as the car's primary owner. Childress will retain the #21 number, however the points will be applied to the #89 car pending NASCAR's approval. This will result in Shepherd being locked in to the first five races of 2011 as the #89 team in 2011 will be the same team which fielded the #21 in 2010.

Shepherd's car will bear the Racing With Jesus logo on the hood, but the paint schemes will change periodically to coincide with another program the team plans to announce at a later date.

Rowe will pilot a second car for which the car number is yet to be approved by NASCAR. His car will be owned by Victory in Jesus Racing with Cindy Shepherd listed as the primary owner. The points from last year's #89 car will be transferred to Rowe's car pending NASCAR's approval as the listed owner will not change, just the car number.

Rowe's car will field the consistent green paint scheme historically associated with the #89 entry. It will carry the Racing With Jesus logo on the hood as the #89 car has in past seasons.

Both cars will fall under the Faith Motorsports banner.

"I'm real excited about the opportunity to go to Daytona with high hopes of getting the year kicked off right," Rowe said. "We hope to run competitively in the first five races in hopes that we can get the car locked in and continue after the fifth race."

Rowe, who had driven on a limited basis with Faith's sister team, Herd Racing, since 2008, indicated that Herd will not field a Nationwide team in 2011. Many of Herd's crew members, including Rowe's brother, Brian, will transfer to his effort under the Faith Motorsports banner. Herd Racing does not have a Nationwide COT and have no plans to run in the Nationwide Series in 2011, team owner Dana Tomes said.

Both Shepherd and Rowe agree that without Top 30 security the second Faith Motorsports car will not be able to continue full time past Week #5.

"We will do our best to go to the track ready each week and see what happens," Shepherd said.

Sponsorships and additional information about the teams' Daytona efforts will be announced in the coming weeks.

The speaker lineup for the fourth annual Driver Advancement Marketing Summit to be held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on January 22 – 23, 2011 will now include NASCAR driver Mike Wallace. In addition to having more than 300 short-track wins, victories in the ARCA and NASCAR Nationwide Series and success in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Wallace will provide valuable advice and insight to drivers looking to advance through the ranks because he is also a racing father and competitor working hard to find funding for racing. Industry professionals including other NASCAR notables and ARCA and Richard Petty Driver Search driver development speakers will be on hand to provide drivers and even parents concrete information and advice on how to best proceed in pursing sponsorships, driver development programs, marketing and PR strategies, and self promotion. “The days of somebody scouting out great drivers and putting them in fully funded race cars is pretty much over,” said summit founder and president of Performance PR Plus, Kymberly Brantigan. “So to even have a shot at advancing through the ranks of professional automobile racing requires drivers to put themselves in a position to create opportunities for themselves. “The opportunity to get in front of veteran team owners, drivers and sponsors who are willing to share their experiences and candidly discuss the reality of what it takes to succeed at the higher levels -- and be open to any questions -- is a very rare and invaluable opportunity.”

Also joining the lineup is Ryan Wilson of Randleman, N.C., who was named “Top Driver” of Richard Petty’s Driver Search II in September 2010, earning the opportunity to compete in the ARCA American 200 at Rockingham Speedway.  Wilson, who started racing go- karts at the age of five and has continued to progress as a competitive driver, will talk about his climb up the ladder and how driver development on and off the track has proven beneficial to him. Also currently slated to speak are Ned Jarrett, Pat Perkins (Hendrick Motorsports), Ray Bednar (Bank of America), Billy Venturini (Venturini Motorsports), Brantigan and Annamarie Malfitana-Strawhand. For a full list of speakers, their titles and related topics, or for more information and to register, please visit http://www.performanceprplus.com/summit.html.
