Hal Martin Excited About Third NASCAR Nationwide Series Start of 2013 Season

After a strong showing in both Daytona and Phoenix, Hal Martin is excited to continue his momentum as he races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this Saturday. “I’ve never raced on this track before. Like Phoenix, I’ll have to learn it quickly. I’m confident that my No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry team and I will have a competitive car this weekend.”

As a 2013 Rookie of the Year contender, there are many tracks Hal has yet to experience. When discussing his overall experience at Phoenix International Raceway Hal stated, “I was anxious to get on track when I first arrived in Phoenix. I knew I would have to learn the handling characteristics of the car as well as learn the characteristics of the track. I was able to get the hang of the track pretty quickly. Unfortunately, my No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry encountered a mechanical issue which changed the handling characteristics of the car throughout the race. The car was not having a good day, but it’s something that can easily be fixed and the race still afforded me my best finish to date in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and my team and I are fired up and ready for Vegas.”
Las Vegas – Chassis Information
The No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry will be using chassis 117 which was built identically to chassis 112 which was used last fall in Kansas. The crew chief, car chief and crew are all excited about this chassis and expect for the car to be a great piece.
Hal Martin on Las Vegas Debut
This is your first time racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, what are you thoughts going into this race?
“First off, I’m really excited to get back to an intermediate race track. I really enjoy racing at the high speed mile and a half tracks in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. I am looking forward to racing at Las Vegas because it is my first time here and from the races I’ve seen in the past, it usually provides for great side-by-side racing due to the progressive banking implemented a few years ago.”
Hal reported “When I arrived in Las Vegas last Sunday, I stepped off my plane, rented a car and drove to an autograph signing on Fremont St. at The D Hotel. It was a fun opportunity for me and my crew who were all with me at the signing. After the signing, we all went to a buffet dinner at The Fremont Buffet then we walked around Fremont St. for a while. I’ve also played blackjack with my crew and fiancee which was fun. I plan on taking in a show before I leave, too”
