Reutimann to Sub for Rookie Points Leader Ryan Truex at Texas

Pastrana-Waltrip Racing announced today that David Reutimann will drive the No. 99 Toyota Camry in the April 8 Nationwide race at Texas Motor Speedway while Ryan Truex recovers from wrist surgery.

Reutimann replaces rookie points leader Truex who underwent corrective surgery this week to repair a fractured right wrist.

“I hurt my wrist on a dirt bike about two years ago but it has really started to bother me the last month or so,” said the left-handed Truex. “In these longer Nationwide races it started becoming more and more of a problem. It was time to get it fixed. It’s really not that big of deal I’ll be driving again here soon and everything will be fine.”

Truex will return to the No. 99 driver’s seat at Nashville Speedway on April 23.

Reutimann, who won the Memphis Nationwide race in 2007, ran six Nationwide races in 2010, posting a best finish of fourth at Chicagoland. He and Crew Chief Jerry Baxter finished second in the Nationwide standings in 2007 and seventh in 2008.

“This will be a fun deal in so many ways,” said Reutimann, who won the pole for the 2007 Texas Sprint Cup race.

“Jerry Baxter and I have worked well in the past and he’s surrounded himself with a good bunch of guys on that team. Plus, the No. 99 is usually a pretty fast car.”
