Kaulig Racing Announces Personnel Changes for 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series Season

Just as the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) season starts to gear-up, Kaulig Racing is thrilled to announce that General Manager and former Crew Chief, Chris Rice, will be stepping into a new role as the President of Kaulig Racing.

Rice began his career as a Crew Chief in 1999 and earned one win and eight top-five finishes in the NXS. He became the Crew Chief and General Manager for the No. 11 Chevy and Kaulig Racing in 2016 when the team was formed. Rice has decided to transition from calling the race from atop the pit box to pursuing his role as President of the team.

“I’m super happy to be moving into my new role as President of Kaulig Racing,” said Rice. “I’m very thankful to Matt and Lisa Kaulig, as well as Kaulig Companies for this opportunity. We’ve had three years of success with this team, and we made the playoffs all three years. We have a great group of men and women, so it’s just an easy transition to move into that President role. We look forward to what the future holds here at Kaulig Racing.”

Kaulig Racing is also excited to announce that Nick Harrison will be named the Crew Chief of the No. 11 Chevrolet Camaro SS, driven by Justin Haley. Harrison, with a proven track record as Crew Chief, has earned a win in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS), five wins in the NXS, one top-five and a pole award in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS). Harrison has worked with a few of NASCAR’s stars such as: Bill Elliott, A.J. Allmendinger, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and many others throughout his tenure as a Crew Chief since 2006.

“I’m super excited to be at Kaulig Racing,” said Harrison. “I’m thankful for the five years I’ve had at RCR (Richard Childress Racing) prior to this, and I’m still in the same complex and running RCR equipment, so I don’t feel too out of place. We have a great group of guys at Kaulig Racing, and I feel like I have really hit the ground running. Justin [Haley] is a proven winner in the truck series, and we plan on making a run for the title with him. He is fun to work with and has a great attitude. We had a great test in Atlanta, and we plan on building from that and going down to Daytona to start this season off with a bang.”

The NASCAR Racing Experience 300 is set to kick off on Saturday, February 16th at 2:30pm EST on FS1 for the first race of the 2019 season.
