This wasn’t our best weekend at Dover International Speedway, but we did what we needed to do to make it into the Round of 8. I just lacked the speed I needed to really drive up front like we had in the spring, but we definitely got our No. 2 Fanatics / Surface Sunscreen Chevrolet better throughout the weekend. I knew the No. 4 car would be doing everything he could to get in the next round, but luckily I was able to save the race car when he bumped us and kept myself from collecting any damage. From then on out, we just raced as aggressively as possible to make sure we stayed in the good to advance to the Round of 8. We’ll clean it up for the next round and hopefully be in a good spot to contend for a Championship Four spot at ISM Raceway.”

The only time I had ever seen Dover International Speedway before Friday was on a simulator. This is a difficult track to get a handle on, but I think I figured it out pretty quick. I jumped up on the speed chart every time we made a run in first practice. Our Childress Vineyards Chevrolet had great long-run speed. It just was too tight on takeoff, and I couldn’t rotate through the corners how I needed to. Overall, I learned a lot today. I’m looking forward to these final four races with Nick Harrison and the team. I’ve had a great time racing with them this year, and I’m excited to finish out the year strong for them.”

I’ve got to give a lot of credit to this race team. This was such a good No. 21 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet, probably one of the best race cars we’ve had all year. We had great pit stops all day, and the guys gave me a great one, but I was just a bit too fast coming in and had to start in the rear. You never know if you’re going to win the race or not, but it definitely took us out of control of the race. That late caution gave us a shot to get back to the front, but I got stuck behind guys with two tires. We’ll take a week off, clear our heads and regroup to be where we need to be when we go to Kansas.”
