Garrett Smithley Eager to Return To Daytona International Speedway

Garrett Smithley, driver of the No. 0 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet Camaro, has been counting down the days till the NASCAR Xfinity Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway. Last year’s PowerShares QQQ 300 at Daytona was Smithley’s best career race finish, thanks to returning sponsor, Flex Tape.

Last February at Daytona, Smithley was involved in a crash early in the race, and his day appeared to be done. However, the pit crew used Flex Tape, part of the Flex Seal family of products, to repair the damage to the car and kept Smithley racing. Thanks to Flex Tape, quick work by the pit crew, and good driving by Smithley, the No. 0 Chevy finished in eighth place. Smithley hopes to top that this year.

“I’m super excited to have Flex Tape on board for Daytona, although I am hoping we don’t need to use as much of it during the race this year,” said Smithley. “I can’t wait to get the 2018 Xfinity Series season started. I’ve got a great feeling about this year with JD Motorsports.”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series with take over the track for the first time in 2018 on Friday with practice scheduled for 12:05 p.m. and 2:05 p.m. (ET) Friday. Qualifying will start at 9:35 a.m. on Saturday, and the PowerShares QQQ 300 will get the green flag at 2:30 p.m. (ET) on FS1.
