Dylan Lupton Finishes 24th in Richmond

With much anticipation, Dylan Lupton and his JGL Racing team debuted the new composite body on their No. 24 Nut Up Toyota at Richmond Raceway.  While the Wilton, California native battled early race run struggles, Lupton guided his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota to a disappointing 24th place finish in the running of the Virginia 529 College Savings 250.

“The race weekend started pretty good in practice and qualifying,” said Lupton.  “Unfortunately, the track changed all day long since we practiced in the morning when there was no rubber on the track and raced at night with rubber built up from Cup practice. Our biggest struggle was on restarts when we had new tires as the car was loose in the center and I couldn’t get back to the throttle for the first 25 laps. After we built up heat in the tires, we were pretty fast and would charge through the field. The bad problem was at that point we lost too much track position and spots by the time our car came in.”

Dylan would start the 250-lap event from the 20th position as a result of qualifying earlier in the day.  Early in the race it became evident that Lupton struggled with the handling of this No. 24 Nut Up Toyota as he lost positions to the field.  However, as the race progressed the handling on his car improved while he battled for valuable track position.  As Lupton battled to regain lost track position, he would sit in the 24th position at the halfway mark of the event.

With the running of the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 featuring very few cautions and long green flag runs, Lupton and his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota would continue to battle for precious spots on the track which was difficult with no cautions.  As the checkered flag flew on a long day, Dylan would cross the finish line in the 24th position.

“Even though I am disappointed in our finish, we learned a few things this weekend that were a positive,” added Dylan. “A big thank you to Nut Up Industries for their continued support and my JGL Racing Crew guys for all their hard work.”

The JGL Racing team will next head to Chicagoland Speedway for the running of the Chicagoland 300.  The 26th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday September 16th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 3:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
