NXS: Logano Scores Pole in the My Bariatric Solutions 300

Joey Logano will lead the field to the green flag later today in the My Bariatric Solutions 300 later this afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway. After finishing 11th in round one with 28.546 seconds, 189.168 MPH, and third in round two with 28.182 seconds, 191.612 MPH, it was a lap time in round three of 28.013 seconds, 192.768 MPH that got the job done. This is the second pole of the 2017 NASCAR XFINITY season for the No. 12 PPG Ford driver, his first came during the previous NXS event at Auto Club Speedway in the No. 22 America’s Tire/Discount Tire Ford.

“It’s a lot of fun to drive this thing,” Logano told FS1 after his final qualifying lap. “We’ll see what happens during the race.”

The 1.5-mile Fort Worth speedway has gone through a recent repave so how the NXS field of cars perform in a race on the new surface is yet to be seen. “Any time there’s a repave, you don’t know how the track is going to react,” Logano explained. “The groove right now is pretty narrow but as it widens out it will get better but it will be interesting the first few laps.”

Erik Jones will join Logano on the front row. The driver of the No. 20 GameStop/GAEMS Toyota finished second in round one with a lap of 28.357 seconds, 190.429 MPH. He went on to top round two with a 28.032-second, 192.637-MPH run. In round three, Jones posted a time and speed of 28.086 seconds, 192.267 MPH to grab his third top-10 start of the season.

Austin Dillion rounded out the top three starters with a lap time and speed of 28.092 seconds, 192.226 MPH. The driver of the No. 2 Ruud Chevrolet finished eighth in round one and 10th in round two with times of 28.509 and 28.329 seconds, with speeds of 189.414 and 190.617 MPH.

William Byron was the fastest qualifying rookie. The driver of the No. 9 Axalta/Preifert Chevrolet will start fifth after he posted a lap time and speed of 28.186 seconds, 191.584 MPH. Byron’s teammate and current NXS points leader Elliott Sadler will roll off 10th. The No. 1 One Main Financial Chevrolet driver recorded a time of 28.381 seconds, and a speed of 190.268 MPH in the final round of qualifying.
