RCR NXS Post Race Report - O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge

Austin Dillon Collects 14th Top-10 Finish of the Season
"The Emerson / Rheem team did a great job putting this car together. We had good practices and had a good package to start the race with. We fired off with good balance. We could run just about any line, but we were the best in the top groove. Towards the middle of the race, we started to get tight in the middle and lost our drive off. The tires fall off so quick here at Texas, you have to pit whenever you can to get fresh ones to keep your track position. We had a good car, we just didn't have the one to win today."

Late Race Incident Costs Ty Dillon and No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Team a Top-10 Finish
"Today wasn't the finish that we wanted and it shows how important it is to have a good race from start to finish. Our Bass Pro Chevy didn't qualify all that well this morning, but we bounced back when the race started and showed some speed. Our car was able to race top 10 but on the last pit stop we had some trouble and didn't have enough to finish the way we wanted to. We're disappointed with a 16th-place finish but we're determined to finish the season strong in Phoenix and Homestead."

Brandon Jones Finishes 19th in the South Point Chevrolet After Multiple Setbacks
"We had a great South Point Chevrolet all weekend long, but we just could not catch a break from the drop of the green flag. On the initial start they checked up ahead of me and I was hit from behind at the start-finish line. That damaged the left rear of the car and we had to come to pit road under the first caution to fix that. It felt like we would lose a lap, fight back to get it back and then lose it again trying to fight your way back up there. You just had to weave through the slower cars back in the back in the pack. I feel like we had a 10th-place car today, but we just couldn't catch any luck. We expected to be much better today, but especially based on how well we did in practice and qualifying. We didn't do anything wrong, we just never caught a break to be in the right place at the right time. My goal now is to win one of these last two races and finish out the year strong."

Brendan Gaughan and the South Point Team Finishes Top-15 at Texas Motor Speedway
"The South Point Chevy fired off extremely tight to start the race, but Shane (Wilson crew chief) and the team went to work to free it up. We took a big swing with changes as we battled a tight-handling front end all day. The team just lacked the cautions to adjust on our Chevrolet Camaro. We battled to stay on the lead lap, we through everything but the kitchen sink at it. This team doesn't quit. I am so proud of all the hard work done in the last few weeks at RCR to bring this Chevrolet to the track. I just wish the results were different. It's disheartening and bums me out, but we won't quit. This team will move on to Phoenix International Raceway and try to recreate the success from the past."
