2010 Canadian Tire Series Champ to Race at Phoenix for MacDonald Motorsports

Former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion DJ Kennington will reunite with fellow Canadian team owner Randy MacDonald this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.  The two have had a long history racing together in the Nationwide Series, dating back to 2006.

“It’s great to have DJ back in our car this weekend at Texas,” said team owner Randy MacDonald.  “Northern Provincial Pipelines have been a long time supporter of him and we hope to give them a good showing this weekend in Phoenix.”

Dwight Kennedy from Northern Provincial Pipelines comes on board to support Kennington, continuing a long-standing relationship with him.  Northern Provincial Pipelines have served as Kennington’s sponsor in 22 of his 47 career NASCAR Nationwide Series starts.

44 of those 47 career NNS starts by Kennington have been for MacDonald Motorsports.  In five starts at the mile oval in Phoenix, DJ had his best finish in 2008 with a solid 22nd place.  Kennington’s best finish for MacDonald Motorsports was a 17th in the season opening race at Daytona in 2009.

At the beginning of the year, Kennington recorded an impressive 2nd place result at the prestigious All Star Showdown at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, CA.  DJ also ran the entire NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this season recording two wins, eight top-5’s, and 10 top-10’s on his way to second in the points championship.

Jeni MacDonald, daughter of Randy, will be the car owner on the No. 80 Northern Provincial Pipelines/Clark Construction/Whitemund Mechanical Dodge.  Just 18 years of age, Jeni is a student at UNC-Charlotte and a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha women’s fraternity.  Jeni setup and organized the entire THINK PINK message and partnership on Reed Sorenson’s No. 82 earlier this year at Charlotte.
