Trevor Bayne Wins with Roush Yates FR9

Roush Yates Engines powered drivers to the top of the leader board in both the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series at Texas Motor Speedway. Trevor Bayne earned his first Nationwide Series victory; Ford Racing clinched the 2011 Manufacturer’s Championship, and Roush Yates’ FR9s qualified 1-2-3 for Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series AAA Texas 500 race, which, in the end, saw six Roush Yates engines finish in the top twelve.

Carl Edwards dominated the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday until the final restart on lap 194 when Bayne powered by his teammate and held off Denny Hamlin to win his first career Nationwide Series race. Bayne’s win comes just nine months after his surprising Daytona 500 triumph.  Roush Fenway driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished sixth, increasing his lead in the points to 17 over second place Elliott Sadler – with just two races remaining.

Bayne’s win clinched the Manufacturer’s Championship for Ford Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

“This is one of the toughest tracks to drive and that’s why I’ve always wanted to get a win at a place like this,” said Bayne. “Daytona is great, but that’s restrictor plate racing.  I hate to say it but a lot of people could be in victory lane there, but to win at a mile-and-a-half that has been one of my dreams and Texas is by far one of the toughest places to drive, so I’m really excited about this victory.”

Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 Sprint Cup Series race shaped up well for Roush Yates Engines with four Fords qualifying in the top seven including a 1-2-3 effort by pole sitter Greg Biffle, David Ragan, and Matt Kenseth. All of Roush Yates’ FR9s ran well throughout the race and Ford had six cars finish in the top twelve. Points leader Carl Edwards came home second, maintaining his lead over Tony Stewart.
