Dakoda Armstrong Limps Home 26th in Texas

Dakoda Armstrong was hoping a two week break in the NASCAR XFINITY Series schedule would put an end to his string of early season bad luck. However, that streak picked up right where it left off as Armstrong would bring his No. 28 Winfield Toyota home with a very disappointing 26th-place finish in the running of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.

“Man that was a very rough night for me and this JGL Racing team,” said Armstrong.  “Our Winfield Toyota was very loose and we battled with that all night.  This put us behind and then we tried to gamble with some strategy to make up track position and ended up running out of fuel with about five laps left to go.  This was not the kind of performance we were looking for and it is key for us to hold our heads up high as we will turn this corner soon.”

Dakoda would start the 300-mile event from the 22nd position as a result of his qualifying efforts earlier in the day.  The driver of the No. 28 Winfield Toyota would battle the loose condition from the drop of the green flag.  His JGL Racing crew would utilize multiple pit stops and had the car handling better at the halfway point of the race.  Being caught behind, the driver and team took a gamble to gain some track position.  However, the bad luck streak continued with the No. 28 Toyota running out of fuel with five laps remaining in the event.  A trip down pit road proved costly and relegated Armstrong to the disappointing finish.

“All we can do is stay together as a team and continue to work hard,” added Dakoda.  “I am confident in myself and this JGL Racing team and our fortunes will change here soon.”

The 26th-place finish would drop Armstrong one spot to the 14th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers’ standings – just six points of the top-12.

Armstrong and his JGL Racing team next head to Bristol Motor Speedway for the running of the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300.  The seventh race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday April 16th and can be seen LIVE on FOX Sports1 at 12:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Performance Racing Network (PRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
