TriStar Motorsports Post-Race Report: Phoenix International Raceway

Race Highlights:
The 200-lap race included three cautions for 16 laps and 5 lead changes among 4 drivers.
Starr Rallies to 22nd at Phoenix
Misfortune struck early for David Starr at Phoenix International Raceway. Starr qualified 22nd to start the Axalta Faster. Tougher. Brighter. 200. In the first lap, Starr was involved in an incident causing significant right side damage to the No. 44 Zachry Camry. Through a series of pit stops, the pit crew made repairs that allowed Starr to continue the race though the damage caused the Texas native to fall three laps behind the leader. During a much needed caution, Crew Chief, Frank Kerr, made a last second decision to stay out to gain track position. Battling damage and a tight condition, Starr’s determination remained strong and he was able to advance a few positions. Through teamwork and perseverance, Starr rallied and brought home a 22nd place finish for the No. 44 Zachry Camry.

JJ Yeley Finishes 21st at Home Track
JJ Yeley brings home a Top 20 at his home track at Phoenix International Raceway. Another long green flag run race, Yeley was able to stay on the lead lap for a majority of the day, allowing him to gain several positions on the leaderboard. Fighting a tight race car throughout the 200 lap event, Crew Chief Eddie Pardue made several key adjustments to help keep the car towards the front. This marks Yeley’s second Top 20 in three weeks
Yeley:  “I need to first thank all of my guys for the hard work that goes into this No. 14 TriStar Motorsports Toyota. These guys bust their tails to try and make this Toyota better. We battled a tight race car for most of the race, but didn’t give up. Getting that Lucky Dog in the beginning and have the cautions work in our favor this weekend, really helped. I’m looking forward to Auto Club Speedway next weekend.”
