Allgaier saves enough fuel to win Cabo Wabo 250

After an eventful day at Michigan International Speedway, Justin Allgaier in his No. 7 Chevy Camaro for JR Motorsports saved enough fuel to win the Cabo Wabo 250.

Fuel saving was the name of the game Saturday afternoon in the Irish Hills, as most teams were not confident they were able to save enough fuel to make it to the finish at lap 125. However, a caution came out with just eight laps to go after Kyle Weatherman in the No. 91 Chevy Camaro blew a tire in turn two. Then, the rains came to town.

NASCAR red flagged the race with just one lap to go in regulation, meaning that a NASCAR overtime would be possible if the race got going again. Ultimately, the race did get back going, which we saw an exciting finish, with Kyle Sieg in the No. 28 Ford Mustang going for a wild flip on the back stretch on the final lap

Sheldon Creed finished second at Michigan, beating Dale Jarrett on the most second place finishes before winning his first Xfinity Series race, with 11 total in his career.

There were nine cautions for 37 of 125 laps in Saturday’s race, with seven different leaders and a total of 10 lead changes. It took 2:21:14 hours to complete the Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan.

Next week, the NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to Daytona International Speedway for the Wawa 250 on Friday, August 23. That race starts at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, and will be broadcast live on USA, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
