Wallace Finishes 17th at Chicago

RAB Racing with Brack Maggard and veteran driver Kenny Wallace could not fully recover from  the detriment of a questionable set of tires in the early-going of the Dollar General 300 Saturday afternoon. Wallace earned his 23rd top-20 finish of the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season after rallying the No. 09 Family Farmers Toyota Camry to a 17th place finish, following 300 miles of racing at Chicagoland Speedway.

Making the second of two trips to the Windy City during the 2011 season, Wallace posted speeds fast enough for 7th position in NNS final practice. After his qualifying attempt on the 1.5-mile oval, Wallace was able to pilot the No. 09 to a 15th place spot on the starting grid.

Wallace began the race concerned about a vibration and pitted with the field to put a set of fresh tires on the No. 09 hoping to remedy the issue. Wallace continued battling a “loose” handling car following the pit stop and fell 2 laps down throughout the ensuing green flag run that lasted for the entirety of the event. After the issues were amended on the next visit to pit road, the No. 09 began turning the fastest laps of the cars not on the lead lap. But, even with the handling improvements, the ground could not be made up and Wallace finished 17th.

With six events remaining on the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, Wallace heads into the off weekend solidly inside the top-10 in the NNS driver point standings in seventh position. The No. 09 holds steady at 13th in the NNS owner point standings.
