Matt Carter To Pilot Go Green Racing Entry At Atlanta Motor Speedway

Denver, North Carolina native Matt Carter will pilot Go Green Racing’s (GGR) No. 39 CarportEmpire.com / Bennett Steel Structures Ford Mustang in Saturday night’s Great Clips 300 at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway (AMS). Carter will pinch hit for normal CarportEmpire.com driver Fain Skinner.

Carter, 30 will make his 29th career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start of his career and 10th of the 2011 season. The 26th race of the season signifies the first contest though that the 2008 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Rookie of the Year will take the helm of the No. 39 Carport Empire / Bennett Steel Structures Ford Mustang.

“I’m extremely thankful to Go Green Racing, Archie (St. Hilaire), Fain (Skinner) and the folks at Carport Empire and Bennett Steel for the opportunity this weekend at Atlanta,” said Carter. “We’re going to the track this weekend looking for a strong run that we all can be happy with when the checkered flag falls.”

“It was a big deal when Fain and the folks at Carport Empire asked me to step-in this weekend,” added Carter, the son of NASCAR legend Travis Carter. “They are a great marketing partner for NASCAR and I’m planning to go to Atlanta and help Fain spread the word about the many different ways that Carport Empire can make a difference to its customers.”

Before the opportunity arose to guide the No. 39 CarportEmpire.com / Bennett Steel Structures Ford Mustang at AMS, Carter has driven for Fleur-De-Lis Motorsports and Rick Ware Racing throughout the 2011 season. The avid racer is looking forward to seeing both the green flag and checkered flag on Saturday night.

“I’m really excited about having the opportunity to race start to finish this weekend at Atlanta,” sounded Carter, who has one prior start at the 1.5-mile oval in 2009. I’m focused on delivering the No. 39 CarportEmpire.com / Bennett Steel Structures Ford Mustang a solid run under the lights at a very cool and fast racetrack.”

While the former ARCA winner knows that while there are no additional plans at this time beyond Atlanta to run for Go Green Racing, he is hoping it may provide an opportunity to audition for another ride within the series for the remainder of the year.

“I’m a racer and I want to race. It’s all I know,” explained Carter. “I know with all the right ingredients, I can be competitive. Hopefully, that door will open again soon. However, for Atlanta this weekend’s it’s about mentoring Fain, spending time with the folks at Carport Empire and getting the job done for Go Green Racing.”
