No. 20 Pye-Barker Fire & Safety Toyota GR Supra News and Notes

  • NEMECHEK AT ATLANTA: John Hunter Nemechek won the most recent NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway last July. That night, he started second, but didn’t lead until the final three laps on the way to securing his third win of the 2023 season. Overall, he has posted two top-five finishes and three top-10s in four Xfinity Series starts at the 1.54-mile track. In addition to his Xfinity Series success, Nemechek also visited victory lane at Atlanta in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series in February 2016. In that race, he started 18th and found his way to the lead with eight laps remaining to claim his second career Truck Series victory.
  • DAYTONA RECAP: Only an hour after earning a career-best seventh-place finish in the Daytona 500, Nemechek also turned in a seventh-place result in the Xfinity Series season opener Monday night at Daytona International Speedway. The night presented a multitude of challenges for the No. 20 group after Nemechek was involved in a multi-car accident on lap 37. After falling one lap down, he quickly rejoined the lead lap before a flat left-rear tire sent him spinning through the Daytona tri-oval. Nemechek rebounded during the latter portion of the race to claim a respectable finish.
  • 2023 SEASON REVIEW: Nemechek led the Xfinity Series last season with seven wins, 17 top-five finishes, 24 top-10s, and 1,083 laps led. Following a strong campaign, his season culminated with a Championship 4 appearance where he ultimately ended up fourth overall.

Talk about racing in the Xfinity Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway…

“I really enjoy Atlanta. It definitely keeps you on your toes with this layout and having to know what moves to make and when to make them to move yourself forward. We did a good job of that last year and put ourselves in position late in the race and had a really good restart to win, so we can definitely do it. I’m excited about this weekend and hope we can make the most of it.”
