NNS: Auto Club Speedway Preview

This weekend the NASCAR Nationwide Series heads west for the 16th annual TreatMyClot.com 300. It’ll be stop 5 of the 33 race schedule for 2014. After this weekend, the series will be off until April 4th at the Texas Motor Speedway.

The entry list this weekend features a total of 41 drivers. This will mean that one driver will fail to qualify for the event on Saturday. Some of the drivers you’ll see this weekend include, Jason White, Kevin Harvick, Derek White, Mike Bliss, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Carlos Contreras, Ryan Sieg, David Starr, Daryl Harr, J.J. Yeley and David Ragan.

Storylines:

Heading into Auto Club Speedway this weekend, the NASCAR Nationwide Series points battle heats up between the top-three drivers. Regan Smith heads into this weekend with the points lead but right behind on his heels is Trevor Bayne by one point. Sitting in third, eight points back, is rookie Ty Dillon. Smith has led the standings since his win in the season opener at the Daytona International Speedway last month.

Not only is the points lead heating up, but so is the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings. With four races gone already, Ty Dillon and Chase Elliott respectively are showing why they’re the favorites. Both drivers are tied for the first position. Sitting in third and 14 points behind the leaders, is Dylan Kwasniewski.

Five drivers in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will be looking to impress as Auto Club Speedway is they’re home track. Those drivers to focus on are, Kevin Harvick, Matt DiBenedetto, Kyle Larson, Ryan Reed and Josh Wise.
