Cassill attacks super-fast Atlanta

There is fast, and then there is REALLY fast.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is really fast. The 1.5-mile oval in suburban Atlanta traditionally spins some of the fastest laps in the NASCAR universe, and it will be a challenge again Saturday for Nationwide Series drivers in the Great Clips/Grit Chips 300.

Landon Cassill will be in the field in the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Flex Seal Chevrolet.

“Atlanta is a track that really gets your attention because of the speeds,” Cassill said. “It’s a long race, but you’re running so fast there that it goes by pretty quickly. You have to be on your toes.”

Cassill finished 22nd and 20th in the past two Sprint Cup races at AMS.

The first round of practice is scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (ET) Friday.

Another practice session is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by qualifying at 4:05 p.m. and the 195-lap race at 7:30 p.m.
