Landon Cassill matched his best finish of the Nationwide Series season Saturday by taking 17th in the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International.
Cassill, driving the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet, started 24th and ran a steady race all the way to roll home 17th. He also finished 17th at Talladega Superspeedway in May.
“We had a good car,” Cassill said. “There was a lot of traffic to deal with and you had to be careful, particularly in the turns. Some of it was about survival and keeping the fenders on the car until the end.”
Fourteen cars failed to finish the race with a variety of problems, including three engine failures.
Sprint Cup invader Brad Keselowski won the race. He has won his past four starts in the Nationwide Series.
