Kyle Larson NNS Preview: New Hampshire Motor Speedway

There’s A Lobster Loose…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) for the halfway marker of the 2013 season. Kyle Larson will be making his first NNS start at the 1.058-mile New England track, but he won’t be making his first laps at the facility. Larson has one start in theNASCAR K&N Pro Series East, impressively starting third and winning his first and only stock car event in Loudon, N.H.

This Week’s Camaro…Crew chief Trent Owens and the No. 32 McDonald’s team have prepared chassis TSM-323 for competition this weekend at NHMS. TSM-323 has hit the track four times this season, most notably scoring top-five finishes at Bristol Motor Speedway and Iowa Speedway.

 

DASH 4 CASH…Last weekend’s sixth-place finish at Daytona International Speedway qualified Larson for the Nationwide Dash 4 Cash for the second week in a row, making him one of the four competitors competing for a $100,000 bonus at NHMS. The top-four finishers from the Daytona NNS race running for Nationwide Series Driver Points [Austin Dillon, Elliot Sadler, Sam Hornish Jr. and Larson] will compete in the second Dash 4 Cash event this weekend. The highest finisher among the four drivers will receive the $100,000 prize and will also automatically qualify as one of the four in the following week’s Dash 4 Cash in Chicagoland.

 

Watch and Listen…The CNBC Prime The Profit 200 can be seen live on Saturday, July 13 on ABC.  Race coverage will begin at 3:00 p.m. EDT. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

 

Previous Race Recap…Larson returned to Daytona International Speedway to claim the strong finish that eluded him in the February event at the 2.5-mile superspeedway and left with his eighth-consecutive top-10 finish. Larson managed to stay out of the characteristic “big one,” earning his first NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) top 10 at a superspeedway and Sunoco Rookie of the Race honors with a sixth-place finish.

“I’ve been really looking forward to Loudon; I’m seeing so many of these tracks for the first time, so whenever you can go to a track that you’ve not only raced, but won, you’re going to circle that race on the calendar. It’s a fun track to race, it’s really unlike anywhere else we go; it’s got very long straightaways, it’s very flat and your braking points are critical. It’s a challenging track but I definitely feel like having a quicker learning curve this weekend could put us in a position to win our first Nationwide race.”
