Nelson Piquet NNS Preview: New Hampshire Motor Speedway

The Granite State…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) will make its first and only stop of the 2013 season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) this weekend for the CNBC Prime The Profit 200. Piquet Jr. has one previous start at the New England 1.058-mile oval, coming in 2011 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series where he started sixth and finished 24th.

 

This Week’s Camaro…The No. 30 Qualcomm team will have chassis TSM-335 for Saturday afternoon’s race at NHMS. TSM-335 has been on the track four times this season, most previously at Iowa Speedway in June.

 

Rally Cross…Piquet Jr. will participate in the fourth leg of the Global Rallycross schedule this week at NHMS. Piquet Jr. previously participated in the Global Rallycross race at X Games Foz do Iguacu in April where he finished 11th overall in the event. Practice gets underway at 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Coverage of the Heat races, Last Chance Qualifier and Supercar Final can be seen live on ESPN beginning at 5:30 p.m. EDT.   

 

Daytona Recap…Making his second NNS start at Daytona International Speedway on Friday night, Piquet Jr. looked for a solid finish in the Subway Firecracker 250. Piquet Jr. and his No. 30 WORX Yard Tools team started the weekend by qualifying 20th at the 2.5-mile superspeedway on Friday afternoon after finishing 18th in their lone practice session on Thursday. After a late-race caution, Piquet Jr. and the WORX Yard Tools Chevrolet Camaro were credited with a 21st-place finish.
