Justin Allgaier NNS Preview: Road America

Land of Cheese…This weekend the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) heads to its first road course race of the season at Road America located in Plymouth, Wis. This will be Allgaier’s fourth start at the 4.048-mile road course. In 2011, Allgaier was leading the race when his car when out of fuel while under caution on the last lap. Last year’s race was won by Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) teammate Nelson Piquet Jr. In preparation for this year’s road course race, Allgaier along with his TSM teammates participated in an open test last month at Virginia International Raceway (VIR).

Meet Justin…Allgaier will join his Turner Scott Motorsports teammates at the NNS Road America autograph session on Friday, June 21 from 3:45-4:30 p.m. local time, located in front of the Road America media center.

In-Car Camera…The No. 31 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet Camaro will have an in-car camera sponsored by Pep Boys for the race broadcast. This weekend’s Johnsonville Sausage 200 can be seen live on ESPN on Saturday, June 21 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. You can also listen to the race on MRN Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90 beginning at 4:30 p.m. EDT.

This Week’s Camaro…This weekend the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet team will utilize chassis TSM-305. TSM-305 has been updated for 2013 and is the same car Allgaier tested at VIR last month.

Recapping Iowa…Allgaier qualified seventh for the Alliance Truck Parts 250 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). After a tough day at MIS battling an ill-handling car and changing weather conditions, Allgaier and the No. 31 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet Camaro team rallied to a 12th-place finish. Allgaier is currently third in the NNS Driver Point Standings, just one point behind Sam Hornish Jr. in second-place.

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli on Road America:

“I always enjoy a little road course racing. It’s a completely different type of racing from our usual oval tracks. Justin has had success on the road courses with winning Montreal last year, and almost winning at Road America a couple of years ago. The weather is going to be a big factor this weekend. Rain could be a big factor this weekend as far as the different tires, visibility, etc.”

Justin Allgaier on Road America:

“Road America is a very challenging but fun road course. It’s very technical but has a lot of high-speed corners as well, so it’s very balanced. We were leading two years ago on the white-flag lap and the caution came out. All we had to do was make it back to the start finish line and we ran out of gas. It’s been a race track of many challenges for me, but I do enjoy going. We tested at VIR and that was good because it gave me the chance to feel more comfortable in the car. I was able to get back in the rhythm of going left and right, but the tracks are totally different when it comes to the setup.”
