Hal Martin: Texas Motor Speedway Pre-Race

Following a two week break in the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, Martin and the No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry team prepare to travel to Fort Worth, TX for Martin’s second series start at this track. Martin has competed at Texas Motor Speedway two times previously. In 2006, Martin raced his super late model and received a 12th place finish. In addition, Martin competed at Texas Motor Speedway last fall where he finished 30th following contact with the outside wall in turn two early during the race.

How are you preparing yourself for this upcoming race?
Hal stated “This is the first track in my Nationwide Series schedule that I will have seen previously. My confidence is boosted and I’m ready for an exciting race. To prepare for this race, I plan on reflecting on my own personal experiences at this track as well as watching video footage from previous races at this track. I will also utilize the knowledge of my teammates at TriStar Motorsports who have raced at this track many times.”
This is your fifth race of the season; how do you feel about your team cohesion thus far?

“The only member of our team that was with me during my first three Nationwide Series races last season is my car chief, Dan Brzozowski.” Martin states “The rest of my team was new to me and new to each other at the season opener in Daytona. During these first five races, we’ve had time to not only get to know each other in a professional capacity but to also get to know each other personally. I’ve got a great, hard working, professional group of guys who I have a lot of respect for, and I couldn’t have picked a better team to work with.”
You had two weeks off, what did you do during your off time?
Martin replied, “Life on the road is usually pretty hectic, during my time off I went home with my fiancee and we were able to spend time with family and friends and take care of planning our wedding. We were also interviewed by Erin Nicole at WGNO (ABC26) about my race career and our wedding planning process. It was cool to be able to present an inside look at an off track experience to our fans.”
