NASCAR Drivers Testing at Richmond International Raceway This Wednesday

Race fans in Richmond who can’t wait for NASCAR to return are in luck. Several NASCAR drivers are making an early return to Richmond International Raceway this Wednesday, April 20, before the April 28-30 Spring NASCAR Race Weekend at America’s Premier Short Track. They are testing in preparation for the Thursday, April 28 Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown.

Chesterfield, VA’s Denny Hamlin, Hermie Sadler, Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell, Curtis Markham and Jason White are confirmed to hit the track Wednesday from noon to 6:00 p.m. Grandstands are free and open to the public by accessing Gate 70.

The fourth annual Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown makes its debut at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday, April 28. The race features many NASCAR drivers, including Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Michael Waltrip, Joey Logano, Travis Pastrana and Trevor Bayne, battling with some of the best Late Model drivers in the area.

The Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown will run after the 7:00 p.m. Blue Ox 100 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race on Thursday, April 28. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series is a launching pad for developmental drivers and home for veterans of motorsports. The series has produced many drivers currently competing in NASCAR’s three national series. Tickets for the doubleheader are $25 and children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.
