NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Race added to Richmond Weekend

More racing is what our fans want, and more racing is what they will get next season at Richmond International Raceway. Track president Doug Fritz announced today the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will race at America’s Premier Short Track “under the lights” on Thursday, April 28, 2011 to kick off the first NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend in Richmond since 2005.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series features separate schedules and championships for the East and West, and makes up the top step of the NASCAR Home Tracks ladder—a launching pad for developmental drivers and home for veterans of motorsports. In addition to producing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Joey Logano, Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series has served as the starting point for some of the top up-and-coming talent now in NASCAR’s three national series, including Austin Dillon, Trevor Bayne, Brian Ickler, Ricky Carmichael and Ryan Truex.

“We are excited to bring another great racing series to the best fans in all of motorsports at Richmond International Raceway,” said track president Doug Fritz. “The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, which is a huge effort to promote youth and diversity in motorsports—will be a great addition to our Spring 2011 weekend, which includes the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series.”
