Jason Leffler to throw out first pitch on Aug. 29th Diamondbacks game

Phoenix International Raceway President Bryan R. Sperber announced today that NASCAR driver Jason Leffler will throw out the first pitch at the Arizona Diamondbacks game vs. the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, August 29.

Leffler, a two-time winner in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series, will participate in several in-game activities. He is scheduled to wave the checkered flag for the 5th inning Legends Race and also lead the 7th inning stretch from the dugout with the Rally-Backs. The PIR show car will be on display promoting the November 8-11 NASCAR weekend.

“We are delighted to have Jason represent NASCAR and our November Chase for the Sprint Cup race weekend at the D-backs game,” said Sperber. “The D-backs and the fall NASCAR weekend at PIR deliver two great experiences for Arizona sports fans.  Jason will be in good company as Arizona NASCAR fans support our hometown Arizona Diamondbacks in their push to make the 2012 playoffs.”

NASCAR’s playoffs start Sept. 16 at Chicagoland Speedway. PIR’s semi-final event weekend is November 8-11 and includes four days of on-track action, kicking off with Gatorade Pole Qualifying and the Lucas Oil 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, Nov 8. It continues with the Great Clips 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday, Nov. 10, and is immediately followed by the Casino Arizona 50 NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West championship race. Headlining the weekend on Sunday, Nov. 11 is the semi-final race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
