Seventh Annual Pocono Raceway Blood Drive a Huge Success

The results for the Seventh Annual American Red Cross/Pocono Raceway Blood Drive have been tallied and a total of 876 units of blood were collected during the two day blood drive held July 11-12.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood and there is a severe shortage of blood nationwide. In some cases only a two day blood supply is available. Each unit of blood can help save up to three lives and the 876 units collected will help alleviate the blood shortage in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

“We are extremely fortunate to work with such a charitable organization,” stated Paul Sullivan, CEO of the American Red Cross NEPA Region.  “Pocono Raceway has long been valued supporters to the American Red Cross, and we cannot thank them enough for the hard work and generosity that they give our organization to arrange this fabulous event every year.”

“I would like to thank all the donors for their generous gift…the gift of life,” stated Brandon Igdalsky, Pocono Raceway President and CEO. “There is no substitute for blood and volunteer donors are the only source. We are proud to partner with the Red Cross Blood Services Northeastern Pennsylvania Region on this important project.”
