University of Northwestern Ohio Extend Whelen Modifieds Sponsorship at Bristol till 2016

Some of the most exciting racing at Bristol Motor Speedway the past two years has occurred in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series event in August.

The University of Northwestern Ohio, which first partnered with BMS in 2009 for the Perfect Storm 150, certainly realizes that as the college has signed a contract extension to sponsor the race through 2016.

Dr. Jeffrey Jarvis, UNOH president, says the partnership has been extremely beneficial for the university.

“Everyone at the University of Northwestern Ohio is very excited to extend our partnership with Bristol Motor Speedway,” he said “The opportunities that this partnership has presented for our students, staff, faculty and future students, is unbelievable.

“The relationships that we have established with the staff of Bristol Motor Speedway, the teams competing here and the fans attending make our experience at BMS second to none.”

Jerry Caldwell, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Bristol Motor Speedway is excited about having UNOH on board for another four years.

“Anybody who has been here on Wednesday night in August can tell you that that race is certainly one of the highlights of the year. The University of Northwestern Ohio has fit right in with the BMS family and have been a wonderful partner. We’re definitely looking forward to building on our relationship with them over the next four years.”

Whelen Modified Series drivers will test in Bristol on Monday, March 21 to prepare for the August event.

The Perfect Storm 150 takes place this year Aug. 24 as part of the Wednesday night doubleheader, which also features the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200.
