Tickets for Richmond International Raceway’s September 7-8 NASCAR Weekend On Sale This Friday

One of the most anticipated weekends on the NASCAR schedule is coming to Richmond International Raceway September 7-8, and tickets for the two-day event go on sale this Friday at 9:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here or calling 866-455-7223.

The Saturday, September 8, Federated Auto Parts 400 marks “One Last Race to Make The Chase” and is the final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The top 10 in driver point standings will earn a berth in the championship field and two “wild card” drivers will also earn a spot. The “wild card” positions go to the two drivers with the most wins who are ranked 11-20 in the point standings, which means there could be an abundance of drivers battling it out for the win “under the lights” at Richmond International Raceway.

“I think the Wild Card system has created a tremendous amount of buzz in the air, and the people who aren’t in the top 10, or haven’t won races, know they need to make something happen,” said Kevin Harvick, winner of last year’s September race at Richmond International Raceway.

“As we all saw last year, this race has the potential to be one of the most intense, tempered and exciting races of the season,” said RIR President Dennis Bickmeier. “Last season there were 14 drivers mathematically eligible for three remaining spots in The Chase. Not only are the finishing position points important in the Federated Auto Parts 400, but the bonus points for wins are crucial, as evidenced by the championship finish last year between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards.”

The weekend kicks off Friday, September 7, when the NASCAR Nationwide Series returns to RIR for the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 race “under the lights.” All of the full-time Nationwide drivers will beat and bang with several Sprint Cup Series stars. Friday’s ticket includes practice and Gatorade Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as practice and WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Friday’s advance tickets start at $30, with children 12 and younger admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections.
