Street Stocks featured in 75-lap/$1000-to-win race this upcoming Saturday at Mahoning Valley Speedway

At Mahoning Valley Speedway the Modifieds may be the headline class but make no bones about the support divisions that are equally as significant and this coming Saturday evening, August 31, one particular class, the Street Stocks, will be front and center with their tradition Labor Day holiday extended lap feature paying $1000 to win.

The Street Stocks at Mahoning Valley are class of thrilling fender-to-fender action and rooted deep with parity each week. The car counts speak for themselves and the racing is top notch. Thus the class was awarded the chance to showcase the great talent with several special races each season and this weekend’s show has become a standard.

Over the years this event has produced some memorable races, many in typical Street Stock fashion going down to the wire.

Early on it was contested as a 100 lapper. Looking back in just the past 10 years such top class performers as Randy Ahner Jr., Brian Labar, Kevin Smith and Jason Frey earned 100-lap wins.

From 2013 to 2015 the format changed to a memorial event in honor of the late Mike Krempasky and was run as triple 19-lap features which made for some off the chart shows. In 2016 the program was contested as triple 20s and no surprise all three races where fast and furious.

Since 2017 the race has settled into a 75-lap affair but the despite the tweaks along the way the one thing that has stayed constant is the handsome payouts not to mention the impressive list of winners. Rich Emel, Todd Ahner, Lonnie Behler Sr., Josh Mooney and Zach Graver have all enjoyed victory and this coming Saturday should be no different as $1000 awaits the winner.

Current class point leader and last year’s winner Jon Moser, who is fresh off his fourth win of the season, will lead a brigade of Street Stockers into the big race.

Also on the card will be Modifieds, Late Models, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks.

Front gates open at 4:00 pm. Adult grandstand admission is $18, $2 off for students, seniors 65+ and active military. Children under 10 are free.

Pits will open at 11:30 am. Early paid practice ($25 per car) will be from 12:30 to 3:30. Regular warm-ups begin at 4:15. Pit admission $30 members, $40 non-members. Driver sign-ins will be from 3:00 to 4:15. Heats get underway starting at 6:00.

Coming up on Saturday, September 7 will be a regular five division program plus race number six in the 2019 Mahoning Valley Speedway/Evergreen Raceway Small Car Enduro Series.
