Five NASCAR Xfinity Series Teams Participate in Goodyear Tire Test

The roar of NASCAR Xfinity Series engines returned to Iowa Speedway during a two-day Goodyear tire test. Five drivers put in their first on-track activity of the new year at the Fastest Short Track on the Planet.

Fans were treated to fast cars, as NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers piloted their race cars around Iowa Speedway during the tire test. The test sessions were a preview of what’s to come in central Iowa as Wide Opening Weekend is quickly approaching on June 15-16.

The following teams spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Iowa Speedway for the test:

  • No. 00 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang
  • No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Camaro SS
  • No. 11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro SS
  • No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Supra
  • No. 23 GMS Racing Chevrolet Camaro SS

Justin Haley and defending NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Tyler Reddick joined former Iowa Speedway winners Cole Custer, Christopher Bell and John Hunter Nemechek in making multiple runs over both days to help Goodyear create the best tire for racing at the Fastest Short Track on the Planet.

Fans were able to watch the stars of the NASCAR Xfinity Series in action for free and get a glimpse of NASCAR racing before Wide Opening Weekend on June 15-16 or U.S. Cellular 250 weekend on July 26-27.

The rain held off and made Reddick excited to get back to the track in June.

“We have some work to do compared to Cole [Custer] and Christopher [Bell],” Reddick said. “This is a track that’s always been a lot of fun because there are so many options. It’s a good thing we came to do this tire test because we would have rolled into this race a good bit off.”

Custer is looking forward to coming back to Iowa Speedway twice this summer.

“Everybody has worked so hard to get us where we are right now,” Custer said. “Every single track we go to, we can compete for wins. I love the surface here, it’s so bumpy and so wore out it makes for good racing.

“It’s one of the best tracks we go to.”

Next up for the NASCAR Xfinity Series is the Dash 4 Cash race at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, April 27 (FS1, noon CDT). As a result of being the highest eligible finishers in last weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond Raceway, Custer, who won the race, along with Austin Cindric, Justin Allgaier and Reddick, will now make the trek to Talladega with a shot at the Dash 4 Cash bounty, which awards a $100,000 bonus to the highest finishing NASCAR Xfinity Series regular in select races.
