With major portions of Project Neon now complete, Las Vegas Motor Speedway officials are excited and optimistic about the track’s traffic outlook for next week’s NASCAR Weekend.
Fans heading to the 1.5-mile speedway on Interstate 15 from the Las Vegas Strip are expected to have a much quicker commute through the city’s “Spaghetti Bowl” at the north end of the Strip, thanks to the completion of the area’s re-design and other completed road projects that will benefit incoming and outgoing traffic on race weekend.
Construction at Craig Road and Las Vegas Boulevard adjacent to Nellis Air Force Base has been completed and is expected to provide a wider and smoother path to and from LVMS via the Las Vegas Boulevard route.
“We would like to applaud the efforts of the construction crews who have worked tirelessly to improve traffic flow in Las Vegas, and we’re confident those enhancements will benefit our race fans next week,” LVMS President Chris Powell said. “Our partnership with area officials and the Nevada Department of Transportation to provide our fans with the best travel options continues, and we’re excited for a great week of racing here at LVMS. We expect a big crowd for our NASCAR tripleheader, as well as our two nights of racing at the Dirt Track, and we can’t wait to get it started.”
The speedway’s Front-Stretch Shuttle luxury bus service will be back again to provide race fans with a VIP experience as they travel from downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip to the track. Three-day weekend passes and single-day passes for Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube are available for purchase, and the shuttle service will feature multiple pick-up locations and a prime drop-off spot within steps of the main ticket gates.
For fans driving their own vehicles to the speedway, options like the Lucky 7 Preferred Lot, which will have two dedicated exit lanes following the races on Saturday and Sunday, are encouraged. LVMS would like to remind fans that the speedway’s extensive on-site shuttle system will not begin running until 45 minutes after the conclusion of Saturday’s and Sunday’s races due to heavy foot traffic leaving the venue.

LVMS’s spring 2019 NASCAR Weekend begins with Strat Qualifying and the Strat 200 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race on Friday, March 1; continues with the NASCAR Xfinity Series Boyd Gaming 300 on Saturday, March 2; and finishes with the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, March 3. The NASCAR action will be preceded by two nights of World of Outlaws action on Feb. 27 and 28 and the Star Nursery 100 K&N Pro Series West race on Thursday, Feb. 28, at the LVMS Dirt Track, giving the nearly 1,000-acre facility five consecutive days of top-notch racing.
