Fans Welcomed to Join 2018 Indy 500 Winner Will Power For His Borg-Warner Trophy Likeness Unveiling at IMS Museum, 5 p.m. on December 5

In just 48 hours – Wednesday, Dec. 5 – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum will host the long-awaited unveiling of 2018 Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power’s likeness on the Borg-Warner Trophy, and fans are encouraged to attend.

Admission for the general public is $10 for the special event, while IMS Museum members will enjoy free admission. Year-long memberships, which include unlimited free admission to the Museum and invitations to a variety of special events, will be available for purchase at the unveiling.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. (ET) and ceremonies begin at 5 p.m.

Along with Power and IMS and IndyCar officials, noted sculptor William Behrends will attend the Borg-Warner Trophy unveiling for the first time.

Behrends, whose studio is located in the Brushy Mountains of North Carolina, has sculpted the sterling silver likeness of every Indianapolis 500 winner since Arie Luyendyk in 1990. He is also known for sculpting several official busts of Vice Presidents, such as Al Gore and Dick Cheney, and large-scale statues of baseball greats such as Willie Mays, Juan Marichal and Tony Gwynn.

Power won his first-career Indianapolis 500 at the 102nd running on May 27, driving the No. 12 Verizon Wireless entry for Team Penske, with a Dallara chassis, Chevrolet power and Firestone tires. It was team owner Roger Penske’s record-17th victory at the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

In 11 appearances at the Indianapolis 500, Power has qualified ninth or better 10 times, with four front-row appearances. He has six top-10 and three top-five finishes – and will now be forever immortalized when his likeness is revealed on the Borg-Warner Trophy.
