Richmond Raceway Set to Host Annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting on Tuesday, December 4

Richmond Raceway (Richmond) will host its annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting on Tuesday, December 4 at 6:30 p.m. Members of the local community are invited to attend and help the track celebrate the upcoming holiday season. The event will include music, the lighting of the Community Christmas tree, and a visit by Santa Claus himself.

“Our annual lighting of the Community Christmas tree at Richmond Raceway has become a symbol of community unity in the region,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “The holiday season provides the opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the season. We look forward to welcoming the community for an evening of holiday cheer.”

The Christmas tree lighting will take place at Richmond Raceway’s Main Gate, located at the corner of Laburnum Avenue and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike. Attendees are asked to enter the facility via the Service Gate located off of Richmond-Henrico Turnpike.

Matt DiNardo, meteorologist for WRIC ABC 8 News, will once again be the master of ceremonies for the event. Students from Laburnum Elementary School and L. Douglas Wilder Middle School have thoughtfully crafted decorations for the Christmas tree. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Laburnum Elementary School choir and the Mighty Marching Warriors from Henrico High School. Hot chocolate and cookies will be generously provided by the Henrico High School Football Boosters.

Once the Richmond Raceway Community Christmas Tree is lit, it will shine bright each night throughout the holiday season.
