On a day off of activity from Daytona International Speedway and Speedweeks 2018, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron flew with the world-renowned United States Air Force Thunderbirds on Tuesday.
Byron, 20, is the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion and will be making his first DAYTONA 500 start on Sunday behind the wheel of the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports.
The USAF Thunderbirds will perform the flyover for the DAYTONA 500 for the eighth straight year and ninth total. The Thunderbirds flyover will feature six F-16 Fighting Falcons, the Air Force’s premier multi-role fighter aircraft.
