Chicagoland Speedway today announced that the Illinois Treasurer’s I-Cash program will return as the sponsor for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series pole qualifying on Friday, September 15. Drivers will battle to start on the front row in the first race in the Cup Series Playoffs. I-Cash Pole Qualifying features a series of three knockout rounds in which the full field is trimmed to 24, then 12 before declaring the pole-sitter by the fastest speed in the final round.

In Illinois, the state treasurer is the custodian of unclaimed property, including lost bank accounts, insurance policy proceeds, and forgotten safe deposit boxes. As a result, the Treasurer's Office is currently safeguarding 2.5 billion dollars of unclaimed money, 28 million shares of stock, and the contents of thousands of safe deposit boxes. Treasurer Frerichs’ office never charges money to search the database or return unclaimed property.

"We are excited to join race fans again this year as Chicagoland Speedway kicks off the first race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Playoffs," said Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs. "We hope to give race fans even more reason to celebrate. It just takes two minutes to visit our website at IllinoisTreasurer.gov/ICASH to discover if you have property to claim. The average claim is $2,900."

“I-Cash Pole Qualifying is becoming a tradition and staple at the Magnificent Mile and a Half,” said Scott Paddock, President of Chicagoland Speedway. “We’re looking forward to once again giving the Illinois Treasurer’s I-Cash program the platform it deserves as it provides a tremendous service to the residents of Illinois.”

It's easy, free, and confidential for Illinois residents to discover if they have assets waiting for them:

  1. Visit IllinoisTreasurer.gov/ICASH and click on the I-Cash link. Then, enter your name and city in the search fields to find out if you have property to claim.
  2. Identify your properties and provide your contact information online.
  3. Within minutes, I-Cash will email you a claim form to sign and mail along with proof of ownership to claim your assets.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway will take place on Sept. 17 as part of the four-race weekend Sept.14-17. The weekend will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 14 with the ARCA Racing Series followed by NASCAR Camping World Truck Series TheHouse.com 225 under the lights on Friday night. On Saturday, Sept. 16, the NASCAR XFINITY Series TheHouse.com 300.will hit the track as the precursor to Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series showdown, the first race in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
