Great Clips Returns as Title Sponsor of Atlanta Nationwide Race

Great Clips will again serve as the title sponsor of the Labor Day weekend NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 3, the Great Clips 300.

The event will showcase Great Clips, the world’s largest hair salon brand with nearly 3,000 locations in more than 140 markets, as the title sponsor and official hair care provider of Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“Last year’s Great Clips 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway was one of the highest attended NASCAR Nationwide Series races in history, and Great Clips is determined to make this year’s event even bigger,” said Great Clips co-op president Greg Thomas. “With the support of our franchisees throughout the Southeast, we’ll all be emphasizing our message that the Great Clips 300 is a fun and affordable Labor Day weekend event the entire family can enjoy.”

The 195-lap Great Clips 300 will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night and is the second of three nights of NASCAR racing during the Sept. 2-4 Labor Day NASCAR race weekend. Continuing a ticket special making NASCAR Nationwide Series racing affordable for fans, children ages 12 and younger will be admitted into the Great Clips 300 free of charge when accompanied by an adult with a regularly-priced ticket.

Great Clips has approximately 120 Atlanta-area locations and more than 300 stores located throughout Georgia and neighboring markets, including Alabama, the Carolinas, Northern Florida and Tennessee that will assist in promoting the Great Clips 300.

The company is also the primary sponsor of the No. 38 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, co-piloted by Jason Leffler and Kasey Kahne for the 2011 season. Great Clips is the longest-standing primary sponsor in the Nationwide Series, having been a sponsor since 2000.

“Atlanta Motor Speedway is pleased to again partner with Great Clips for our huge Labor Day weekend racing celebration,” said Ed Clark, Atlanta Motor Speedway president and general manager. “Together we hosted the largest Nationwide event crowd in Atlanta Motor Speedway history last year and we are already moving to break that record at this year’s event.”

Jamie McMurray won the 2010 Great Clips 300 before a crowd of 71,000 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
