Watkins Glen International, New York State Fair announce marketing partnership

Watkins Glen International and the New York State Fair today announced a partnership that will allow two of the state’s largest attractions to promote one another to visitors.

Watkins Glen International and the Fair will promote each other’s major events through ticket giveaways on their social media channels, including the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race weekend, August 4-7, and the Fair, which runs from August 23 to Labor Day, Sept. 4. These co-promotional efforts will begin immediately.

During the Fair in Syracuse, which attracts visitors around the country, The Glen will be present in the form of an informational booth, complete with a Verizon IndyCar on display.

“The New York State Fair is one of our most historic and revered attractions,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “For Watkins Glen International to have the ability to co-promote with their team, it’s very exciting. We think there is a lot to be gained from working together, and personally, I can’t wait to get back to the fairgrounds this August.”

“We are pleased to begin this partnership with one of America’s iconic race tracks and a major generator of tourism for New York State,” said Troy Waffner, Acting Fair Director. “This year’s promotional efforts are just the beginning of what I know will become a significant relationship that helps each of us continue to bring more people to Upstate New York every year.”

The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 23 to September 4, 2017. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “FIND YOUR GREAT”, is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment. The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.
