Chicagoland Speedway’s Go Green for Spring presented by JULIE, Inc. to be held Saturday, April 8

Chicagoland Speedway is inviting families to kick-off the season of warmer temperatures and new growth by attending its “Go Green for Spring” event presented by JULIE, Inc. on Saturday, April 8. This year’s Go Green for Spring event will take place as a precursor to an eventful season of racing action.

Go Green for Spring will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and guests can enter the facility through Gate 4 off Laraway Road and should follow all appropriate signage leading to the infield. A $10 donation per vehicle will be required upon entry to benefit  Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway’s nonprofit foundation Racing Advocates for Community Enrichment (R.A.C.E.).

Starting at 10 a.m., an event-exclusive offer will be available to all participants: contributors can take their own vehicles onto Chicagoland Speedway’s magnificent mile and a half for a full parade lap around the 1.5-mile oval that the stars of NASCAR will race on during the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series weekend September 14-17. This opportunity is available for only an additional $10!

For safety reasons, track laps are limited to passenger vehicles only, attendees on motorcycles or in oversized vehicles will not be able to participate in track laps.

In addition to the on-track opportunity, Go Green for Spring will feature a variety of guests including:

  • Presenting sponsor, JULIE, Inc. will offer a ‘Design a Pot” craft and distribute seed packets to children while presenting an opportunity to learn more about the “Call 811 Before You Dig” safety program.
  • The Learning Experience Academy of Early Education in Crest Hill will host bird feeder building out of recyclable materials with the first 100 children who visit their display.
  • Northern Illinois Food Bank changes lives locally, one meal at a time, and thus, will be collecting canned goods and other nonperishable food items throughout the event.
  • Nicor Gas’ Energy Efficiency program will present ideas and tools to help attendees save energy and money.
  • Pilcher Park Nature Center will introduce children to animals that live in nearby ecosystems such as live turtles and snakes, along with furs, bones, antlers and shells that have been collected at the park.
  • The Dirt Oval at Route 66 will feature a Team Demolition Derby vehicle as part of the event’s Touch-A-Truck.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties will help children craft cherry blossom tree paintings to welcome spring.
  • The Joliet Fire Department will be present with their Touch-A-Truck program from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
  • The Joliet Police Department bring out their entire squad for the Touch-A-Truck including the paddy wagon, motorcycle and “Bear Cat” (swat vehicle).
  • Men in Black DJ Entertainment will supply tunes throughout the day .
  • With their blood-mobile in tow, the American Red Cross will host a blood-drive out of Garage 4. Event attendees can register to donate the day of the event or online now here.
  • The Joliet Slammers will bring along the mischievous JL Bird, a fast pitch for kids to see just how fast they can throw and will showcase the 2017 season schedule, highlighting their All-Star Game festivities set for July 10-12, 2017.
  • NASCAR Green will supply saplings (young trees) to the first 500 children in attendance.
  • Nicor Gas’ Energy Efficiency program will present ideas and tools to help attendees save energy and money.
  • Dwyane Wade and his family established the Wade’s World Foundation, a nonprofit charity organization dedicated to giving back to at-risk communities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and the South Florida in 2003. Youth will have the opportunity to create their own vision board showcasing their vision for the year and also for the future with Wade’s World Foundation.
  • The Wilmington Coalition for a Healthy Community will engage children with a beanbag toss game and giveaways.
  • Chicagoland Speedway mascot, Dash, will pose alongside the Chicagoland Speedway show car for pictures in Gatorade Victory Lane.

By participating in this event, attendees will support local community organizations as all proceeds will benefit R.A.C.E. Funds accumulated throughout the year allows for the organization to donate upwards of $40,000 in grants to Chicagoland community agencies at the year-end luncheon.
