Kentucky Speedway Announces Honorary Officials for Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts

Kentucky Speedway announced that the most famous words in racing will be delivered by Advance Auto Parts President George Sherman who will serve as Grand Marshal for the July 9 Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts race.  Mike Adkins, vice president of lubricants operations at Englefield Oil, will wave the first green flag when he serves as the Honorary Starter and Marlana VanHoose will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
 
Sherman, a former officer in the United States Air Force, joined the Advance Auto Parts team in April of 2013 and is responsible for sales and store operations, as well as all operations support, merchandising and marketing functions.
 
Adkins, a former air defense captain in the United States Army, is the Vice President of Operations for Englefield Oil Company, a family run fuel & lubricant distributor, established in 1961 in the State of Ohio.

The popular VanHoose will sing the national anthem prior to the sixth running of the Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts. She was born with Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and by the time she was a few weeks old it was discovered that she was blind. At the age of two, she was diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy.
 
The Kentucky native has performed all across the United Sates which include the NCAA women’s basketball tournament, NBA games and, most famously, at Game 6 of the 2015 NBA Finals.
 
In 2012, she was named the New Artist of the Year and Young Artist of the Year by the Artist Music Guild, and after becoming a national inspiration, she was featured in an episode of ESPN’s “E:60.”
