Irwindale Speedway & Event Center is proud to answer the call of racers from across the country by opening entry for the Farewell Extravaganza, set for Saturday, December 21, 2024. This exhibition event offers competitors the opportunity they’ve been asking for: one final chance to make memories and turn laps on Irwindale Speedway’s renowned ½-mile and ⅓-mile ovals before the venue closes its doors at the end of the year.
From grassroots legends to rising stars, the racers who’ve graced Irwindale Speedway have built its legacy over 25 unforgettable years. Now, as the facility nears the end of its historic run, this event serves as a way for those racers to return to the track they helped make iconic, one last time.
Tim Huddleston, promoter of Irwindale Speedway, emphasized the importance of this farewell event: “When word got out about Irwindale’s closure, the racers made one thing clear—they wanted one last chance to race here. The Farewell Extravaganza is that chance. It’s not just about honoring the track’s history but giving the competitors who love this place a final moment to shine.”
A Farewell Weekend Designed for Racers
The Farewell Extravaganza will feature a wide range of divisions, ensuring all types of competitors can take part in this historic occasion. From ARCA Menards West cars and Super Late Models to the fan-favorite Trailer Races and Skid Plate competitions, there’s something for every racer eager to close this chapter of Irwindale Speedway’s story.
Event Schedule Highlights:
- Thursday, December 19: Optional testing session
- Friday, December 20: Optional testing session followed by event practice, heat races, and a celebratory pit dinner with live music.
- Saturday, December 21: Pancake breakfast for all teams, opening ceremonies at 1:00 PM, and a full slate of feature races kicking off at 1:30 PM.
A Meaningful Sendoff for Every Racer and Crew Member
To commemorate their participation, competitors will receive exclusive mementos:
- A personalized plaque for each driver starting a main event.
