The ARCA Menards Series West took the track for the final time of the 2024 season Thursday at Phoenix Raceway for practice and qualifying. A total of 24 cars showed up for the season-finale event on the one-mile oval.
Connor Zilisch paced the one-hour practice session with a quick time of 27.239s / 132.163 mph. Zilisch earned four ARCA East victories this year and a national series win on the road course at Watkins Glen International.
The remaining top five in practice included William Sawalich, Jack Wood, Sean Hingorani, and Tyler Reif.
Qualifying started not long after for Friday’s Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 100.
William Sawalich, holding two victories this year in the West series, scored the pole for the fourth time in his career on Thursday. An 18-year-old from Minnesota, Sawalich enters the season finale seeking his fourth career victory in the series.
Practice leader Connor Zilisch, Jack Wood, Tyler Reif, Sean Hingorani, Giovanni Ruggiero, Brent Crews, Kaden Honeycutt, Lavar Scott, and Kole Raz will round out the top 10 starters.
